45,500

Unbelieveable as it may seem...this is the number of calories that I have lost. 13 lbs...It's just amazing. I can't wait until I can say that I've lost 175,000...that will be 50 lbs...getting me down to 140 :-D

motto

I've been trying to come up with a motto for my journey. "Just do it", is what gets me through each day and each work-out, but I felt like I needed something to encompass my life long goal. I found this one a poster with a gorgeous butterfly on it and I think it exemplifies the mental as well as the physical aspect of making such a large commitment to change my life. And so my new motto is "Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are, for what you could become."

I am ready to become something more than I ever dreamed of...

Success

Words cannot express the sheer joy I feel at this moment. It has been a rough 3 months since I said enough, but I have finally done it. I've lost my first 10 lbs. I couldn't believe it as I stood on the scale, the wave of happiness only hitting me in the shower as the water mixed with my tears of joy. Not so much joy at having reached this milestone, but in coming to the realization that I can do this and I have what it takes to fight hard enough to get what I want.

I haven't written in a while. I've been working hard and working out harder. I'm down to 181 and hopefully this week I'll break 180. It's going to be a big milestone, but I know I can do it. I have to figure out little treats that I will give myself when I get to certain points. Probably every 10 lbs.

I'm getting a little bored with running. I have to figure out something else to do...maybe the elliptical. That just means I have to do it at the Y. Maybe I'll focus more on walking, elliptical and hill climber like I did today.
Who knows...let's just get to 179!!!

I'm feeling better this morning. I ran (HIIT) and feel awesome. I can't wait for tomorrow so I can work out more. I need to get to 3500 cals burned this week.

I'm so upset. I got a huge project at 4.30 and I ended up missing my bus. By the time I got home 5 minutes ago, I was too tired to go to the gym. I hate this. None of these fucking people have ever been fat. They don't know what it feels like to gain weight because you don't go to the gym every fucking day. And because of them I can't work out. All I want is to lose weight and I can't do that if I don't have time to do it. I already don't have enough time and now they're preventing me from working out at all. I feel so helpless and angry and upset. It's so FUCKING ANNOYING.

frustrated

I'm so annoyed. I never eat 3500 calories in a day...EVER. but every time I have ice cream I gain weight. I guess I just have to cut it out of the my diet. It's just so frustrating that I was 182 last weekend and now I'm at 185...it doesn't make any sense because I'm not eating that much! I can't wait to see the nutritionist.

so tired

Today I had a really great day. There was a health fair at work so I got a massage and a flu shot. On the bus ride home I decided that I was going to run/walk for an hour. I got home around 7.35 and began running at 7.45. I ran for about 40 minutes and then walked for the other 20 minutes. I did 2 sprints and at the end I ran for 2 minutes. I burned about 806 calories. When I weighed myself on the scale I was 184.5lbs. Hopefully this weight will stay off. I really want to get to 175...hopefully 170. I know I can do this.

It's good that there are a lot of sweets that I don't like...like Entenmann's donuts...otherwise I would have been very tempted by the box that was sitting next to my desk all day. The thing is that I don't eat things that are very unhealthy...I don't eat candy that much...I can't remember the last time I ate french fries...I guess I just eat too much of healthy food. While it's not as bad as eating too much of unhealthy food...it's still a problem.

I ran last night after dinner. When I got home I saw that dad had made pasta and at first I was a little sad because I didn't feel like I could eat it. But then I thought to myself...well, if I eat the pasta and wait half an hour before running, I should have digested a good amount of it so I'll have glycogen in my blood and be able to use that to work out. So that's what I did. I got two cramps while I was running, one minor, one major. But I was able to pull through the work out. Then I did some abs. I was also good and didn't have ice cream. I had some raisin bran crunch before bed just to refill my glycogen stores for the morning.

I made myself get up with my alarm this morning and walked for half an hour...alternating in a few speed walking sessions and carrying the five pound weights. It was pretty good. Today when I get home from work I'm going to go lift at the gym. I'm going to try working my muscles to failure because I don't normally do that and I think that it will help with building muscle and therefore decreasing fat. I'm excited for the Biggest Loser tonight. It helps motivate me each week. I only wish I had the time to work out as much as they did. Then maybe I'd get the amazing results they get! Oh, well...this is my life and if I want to see a change, I'm the only one that I can make it happen.

goal

So, I've decided that I'm going to lose 10 lbs. by November 16. Hopefully I can lose more, but that is my goal. I have to be really conscious of what I put into my body. I have to be conscious of how much I'm working out. I need to do sprints. I want to look better. I don't know what the outcome will be of my looking better, but I have to look better to see what could happen.
If I could get to 170 by then...I would ecstatic. But 175 would be great too.

frustration

I woke up this morning and I was 188 again. It's so frustrating...I just can't seem to keep the weight off. I seem to be on a plateau. I have to break through it. I don't think I can do the limited cardio thing. Tonight when I get back from work I have to just do cardio. I'm not sure if I'm building muscle...I have to be. But I don't understand how I'm not getting rid of fat at the same time. I don't know...it's annoying though.

I have to just stay focused and push through this. This gain is most likely because it's that time of the month for me. I have to just push myself more to compensate. I can do this.

I didn't run this morning. It's probably a good thing though because we lost power and I would have been showering in the dark. I went to the gym after work and lifted. It was pretty good. I did a sprint afterwards. My weight has gone up to 187 though so I need to focus on getting it down. I want to get it down to 180 by this weekend. If not this weekend, next weekend. I just need to focus. I'm going to keep off the ice cream. I'll treat myself with some Claire's when I get to New Haven. I have to bring some of the carb blockers with me.

Tomorrow I have to run in the morning. Hopefully I can do some HIIT again. Then I'll walk at the end so that I can decrease my sweating. Or perhaps I'll do some abs. Then at night I'll do some more cardio. I really liked sprinting today. I just need to stay focused on my goal.

yay

I didn't run this morning, but I decided to do some field hockey training in the form of HIIT. I did 5 sprint-runs around the end line and side line. Then I did 2 suicides and 2 full field sprints. I originally wanted to do 4 suicides, but it was getting dark so I just did the full fielders. I had a little more time left in the song so I did a sprint from the 50 yard line like I was doing a corner. It felt really good to do sprints like that again. It made me realize that I still have it :-)

I'm also a little sore from the sprints on Saturday and the lifting on Sunday. Sprints are so good for you though. I can feel it in my hamstrings and my poochie.
I decided that sleep was more important than working out this morning. I'm going to do some HIIT when I get back from work...and hopefully there's an indoor track that I can do sprints on in the winter at the Y. I don't think I'm going to do this Waterbury method. At least not for now. Maybe when I need to mix things up a bit.

I think I'm starting to see results physically though. A little on the scale, but more so when I look in the mirror. Hopefully it's not just my mind playing tricks on me. I do like that the HIIT takes up less time and is more effective though. I can't wait to run tonight.

Day 4

I woke up this morning around 8 and daydreamed a little about someone. Then I went to the track at the high school and did 10x 100m sprints. Then I did one final lap of a run/sprint.
I got home and weighed myself. I'm down to 185! I'm so happy. I just have to keep it up. Ideally I'd like to get down to 180 by next weekend. We'll see if I can do it. I'm going to go to the gym after my brother's soccer game and bike for a while. We're going to Olive Garden for my sister's birthday so I have to make sure I have my fat/carb blockers with me.

All I have to say for myself is good job D.

Day 3

I just got back from the Y. I was being kind of lazy at first...I didn't want to go lift, but once I got there it got kicked into gear. I even got asked for lifting advice by this woman named Gwen. She's going to come back Tuesdays and Thursdays when I lift. This morning I didn't want to run, but I find that I can say to myself 'just do it'. And I do!

Tomorrow is Friday so last day of work for the week. Saturday I get my baby painted :-D

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

I was supposed to be on a conference call from 5 to 6 today...I ended up calling in from my cell phone and listening for 45 minutes before hanging up. I didn't want to use up all of my minutes. When I got back home, I was going to go to the gym, but it was pretty light out and I felt like running so I went for a run outside. It was the first time I've run outside in a long time...probably since the beginning of the summer. I felt so good during the run. My legs were getting tired, but my breathing was fine. Usually it's the other way around. I ended up running at an average of 6.15 mph...and the route I went was 1.9 miles according to Streets and Trips. Not bad. It was just getting dark enough that it was hard to see when I got home. I had some yogurt, cereal, apple and peanut butter...and some popcorn when I got home.

It was really cool because I found a program on Google called Google 15 that helps you track your weight loss by showing a trendline.

On a side note...I'm kind of annoyed that a certain person isn't returning my texts/phone calls. He would be so good in a relationship...except for this lapse in communication skills. Oh well...he's with someone else now.

Day 2

I really didn't want to get up and run today...but I said to myself, "Just do it." And I did. I did a little interval training because my legs were a little tired from the sprints last night. Also probably because I was really good and didn't eat a full dinner. Just a whey protein shake and an apple with peanut butter. I'm feeling myself get tired already...but there's always sleeping on the bus! :-)

A Fresh Start

This is the start of my new blog. I'm going to post my goals and my successes in my quest to lose weight.
I know I can do this:

~ I'm going to lift 3 days a week and do cardio the other 3.
~ I'll have one cheat day, on the weekend so that I can work out to make up for it.
~ Eat lots of fruits and veggies
~ Low carb

Day 1 - 187 lbs.
